Week Ending February 23, 2007 - Washington, DC

Lincoln and Reagan are tops - Hillary and Obama are not / Hollywood hands the big bucks to Obama / Former Congressman Joe Kennedy a front man for Hugo Chavez? / Senate may honor William Wilberforce as anti-slavery movie begins to show nationwide / Department of Justice and Religious Freedom / More on World Conference of Families

THE PRESIDENT

LINCOLN AND REAGAN TOPS - In a national survey by US News and World Report the to top presidents according to Americans were Abraham Lincoln and Ronald Reagan. George Washington, the founder of our nation and the man who led the Army that freed us from British rule came in sixth behind Bill Clinton and John Kennedy. Clinton and Kennedy also led Franklin Roosevelt who led us to victory in WW2. I don't even want to know the logic behind Bill Clinton being picked over Washington and Roosevelt. Click here for Gallup report.

THE GREAT LIBERAL HOPE - On Tuesday, February 20th, the "big three" at Hollywood's Dreamworks Studio held a fund raising dinner for Senator Barack Hussein Obama that raised millions of dollars in just one night for his presidential run. The leader in organizing the event was famous director/producer Steven Spielberg. During the 2006 election cycle the entertainment industry gave $22 million to federal candidates, which is one-third more than was given to candidates by the oil and gas industry. Overwhelmingly the money from the Hollywood perverts goes to far left candidates such as Barack Hussein Obama and the new Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi.

THE HOUSE
CONGRESSMAN KENNEDY AND THE DICTATOR Why do liberal Democrats like dictators so much? From Castro to the Mullahs of Iran, Democrats just can't get enough of cozying up to dictators. Republican Congressman Connie Mack had enough of it when former Democrat Congressman Joe Kennedy (D-MA) did a commercial for Venezuelan strong man and America-hater, Hugo Chavez. "Joe Kennedy is acting as a propaganda tool for Comrade Hugo Chavez," Mack told Investors Daily. "He's trying to create the impression that Chavez is a warm, fuzzy person. But what we know is that Chavez is destroying freedom in Venezuela and has launched alliances with nations like Iran. I have no idea why Joe Kennedy thinks this is a good idea." Kennedy appears in ads thanking Chavez for cheap oil. Cli ck here for Congressman Mach's comments.

THE SENATE
WILLIAM WILBERFORCE RESOLUTION - U.S. Senators Sam Brownback (R-KS) and Mark Pryor (D-AR) introduced a resolution commemorating the 200th anniversary of the abolition of the British slave trade and honoring the life of William Wilberforce, an evangelical Christian who was instrumental in abolishing the British slave trade. "Wilberforce's passion and commitment to end the British slave trade and renew the culture solidified the inherency of human dignity and sanctity of human life," said Brownback. "As the 200th anniversary of British slave trade abolition approaches we should celebrate Wilberforce's victories and use his legacy as an inspiration to renew our culture by continuing to fight for human life and human dignity." Also in February the movie Amazing Grace, which portrays Wilberforce's Christian conversion and fight against slavery, began to showing in theaters.
