HELP FREE THOSE IMPRISONED FOR THEIR FAITH

William Murray & Congressman PittsReligious Freedom Coalition chairman William J. Murray and Congressman Joe Pitts (R-PA) need your help to stop the persecution of Christians in nations such as China, Pakistan and the Sudan. A special kit has been prepared for you by Congressman Pitts’ office to help those who have been imprisoned because of their faith.

The Religious Freedom Coalition is an advocacy group. The role of the RFC in Washington is to make a difference. RFC chairman William J. Murray and Congressman Pitts meet almost weekly to discuss passage of legislation to stop the murder of the unborn and to stop discrimination against those of faith both in the United States and in foreign lands. Congressman Pitts stated in a March, 1999 meeting that his office would make available as many packets of material as needed on the persecution of those of faith in China and other nations. These packets contain the names of those in prison and sample letters you can write to help get them released.

Do letters to foreign leaders help get men of faith released from prison? Read this letter from one man who was being held without trial:

"When the first two hundred letters came, the guards gave me back my clothes. Then the next two hundred letters came, and the prison director came to see me. When the next pile of letters arrived, the director got in touch with his superior. The letters kept coming and coming: three thousand of them. The President was informed. The letters still kept arriving, and the President called the prison and told them to let me go."

As you can see letters do make a difference. I urge you to contact Congressman Pitts’ office in Washington and ask for a copy of the materials prepared especially for you to help those of faith imprisoned worldwide. Ask for the RELIGIOUS PRISONERS TASK FORCE INFORMATION PACKET. Congressman Pitts’ phone number is: (202) 225-2411.

The material is also available at Congressman Pitts’ Internet site at: http://www.house.gov/pitts/religious_prisoners.htm
